Jannik Sinner makes a successful start to his Masters campaign.

Italian Jannik Sinner, world No. 2, dominated Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (8th) in his opening match of the ATP Masters, of which he is the defending champion, on Monday in Turin.
Nine days after their duel in the final of the Paris Masters 1000, already won by the Italian, Sinner prevailed 7-5, 6-1 against the Canadian who, at 25 years old, is competing in the ATP finals for the second time, after 2022.
After a close first set, Sinner knocked out "FAA", who was hampered by a pain in his left calf that appeared shortly before, by taking his opening service in the second set to lead 2-0, then 3-0.
He broke him a second time to close out the match on his serve with an ace on his first attempt.
Impressive seriesSinner recorded his 27th consecutive victory on indoor hard courts, his preferred surface, and took the lead in the Björn Borg group, which will also see him face Germany's Alexander Zverev (3rd) and American Ben Shelton (5th).
The native of Alto Adige, the German-speaking region of northeastern Italy, won the 2024 edition of the "masters tournament" which brings together the eight best players of the year, by stringing together five victories without losing a single set.
The 2025 edition could allow him to finish the season in first place in the world, currently held by his great Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz, who has beaten him four times this year.
Fritz shows no mercy to Musetti
In the Jimmy Connors group, American Taylor Fritz, ranked 6th in the world, dominated Italian Lorenzo Musetti (9th), who was playing his first ever ATP Finals match. Fritz, ranked 6th in "The Race," the annual rankings, and a finalist in the 2024 ATP Finals, won 6-3, 6-4. Musetti quickly appeared physically outmatched by his American opponent. The Italian was not initially scheduled to participate in the "Masters Tournament," which brings together the eight best players of the year, but Djokovic's withdrawal gave him his ticket to Turin.
