Hockey (Magnus): Hormadi narrowly misses out in Chamonix

This superiority proved fruitless despite some fine combinations where his counterpart Garnier proved equally vigilant. At times, the game alternated between deep-lying play and well-placed long balls where Caron remained impenetrable, and his teammates truly had him to thank.
Kazarine not far off the markAs the minutes ticked by, Anglet created counter-attacking opportunities with Quattrone, Munoz, and top scorer Kazarine, who, with a touch of cunning, took a few deflections that Garnier anticipated well, keeping pace with. During a second power play (10th minute), a slashing shot by Delmas was thwarted by the Pioneers' defense. With dangerous situations at both ends, the first period can be summed up as an interesting duel between goaltenders.
Upon returning from the locker room, the home team maintained their intensity, allowing Grinbergs to regain possession and open the scoring (1-0, 24th minute) after a defensive mix-up behind the Anglet net. The puck moved well, and Caron, even without a stick, continued to keep his team in the game.
Between the 31st and 36th minutes, Anglet racked up penalties while playing 3 against 5, without conceding a goal. Despite the frustration of Faure and Quattrone, the Basques were still in the game. The visitors increased their intensity but were thwarted, notably by Raska, who was active defensively. However, Anglet refused to give up and found themselves on the power play for the third time (48th minute). Late in the game, Khovanov was penalized (55th minute), and Hormadi went for broke, pulling their goalie to play with six players. Garnier held firm and recorded a well-deserved shutout. The Pioneers made a significant move up the standings.
