The International Athletics Federation has required all athletes to undergo gender testing since September 1. The problem is that these tests are not legal in France, forcing the French federation to find a solution just days before the World Championships, which begin on September 13 in Tokyo.

During the French Athletics Championships in Talence at the beginning of August, the French Athletics Federation (FFA) was to offer the athletes present the opportunity to take the gender test imposed by World Athletics, in preparation for the next World Championships in Japan, from September 13 to 21. "In order to respect their integrity, their privacy and the fundamental principle of medical confidentiality, the samples had to be taken by a doctor, preliminary interviews with the athletes were planned, and the laboratory's agreement obtained," the body promised.
