Storm Alex: Ventimiglia approves a €2.5 million project to consolidate the banks of the Roya in Italy

In Italy, as in France, Alex left its mark. The devastating storm almost completely swept away the Squarciafichi footbridge.
Very recently, the Ventimiglia municipal council gave the green light to the executive project to safeguard the banks of the Roya.
With a total cost of 2.525 million euros, this program aims to strengthen the existing dikes in order to protect the city against hydrogeological risks.
The funding, which falls under regional jurisdiction, will be integrated into the planning of funds intended for soil protection.
Reduce vulnerability to flood risk"This is another promise kept, despite the controversies raised in recent months," declared Mayor Flavio Di Muro. According to him, the municipality chose to separate this project from that of the future footbridge over the Roya in order to optimize funding management and carry out several operations in parallel.
The project is presented as a major step in reducing the vulnerability of strategic neighborhoods, currently classified as flood zones. " We continue to work for the safety of the neighborhood," insisted the mayor.
