2026 Municipal Elections: In Roquesteron, Mayor Danielle Chabaud Makes Her Candidacy Official

Like some of her counterparts, a few months before the municipal elections, the mayor of Roquesteron, Danielle Chabaud, took advantage of an event in her town to announce her candidacy for re-election in March 2026.

"Your support and participation will be invaluable in continuing this adventure with me," she told the assembly that came to witness the signing of the partnership agreement to join the "My Neighbor 06 Has a Heart" program, alongside Anthony Salomone, the mayor of Aiglun.

"Improving the daily lives of vulnerable people"

"My Neighbor 06 Has a Heart" is an innovative program that mobilizes local solidarity for the benefit of the elderly or isolated, but also to support family caregivers.

Joining this local network will strengthen the daily support of vulnerable people thanks to the commitment of trained volunteers.

Their missions: walks, assistance with administrative or IT procedures, or even courtesy visits to nursing homes.

Created at the time of Covid, the scheme "mainly concerned populations living on the coast" . "However, there is a real movement of populations towards the hinterland, which obliges us to recruit volunteers from all over the department" , explains Sébastien Martin, head of the scheme and director of the Maison des Associations, which currently has 200 certified volunteers.

"All you need to do is be at least 18 years old and register on the platform, where all the details are explained. An agreement has also been signed with certain nursing homes. This local support network is unique in France."

"This program embodies the Department's desire to strengthen local solidarity and improve the daily lives of vulnerable people," emphasizes Charles-Ange Ginésy, President of the Department.

Projects and rewards

The President of the Department returned to the "essential projects" carried out in the commune: "On the one hand, the complete renovation of public lighting, which will make it possible to switch to 100% LED by the end of September (for an investment of €225,000) with 269 renovated light points and connected cabinets allowing the lighting to be programmed remotely, while respecting biodiversity. And on the other hand, a heritage project concerning the restoration of the old path of faith, or historic mule track, leading to the Sainte-Thérèse-d'Avila oratory, which was financed by the Department to the tune of 80%, or €44,066."

The president also welcomed the town's full connection to fiber, "an asset for digital development."

The mayor of Roquesteron also presented upcoming projects to her constituents: the renovation of the presbytery to house four apartments, the expansion of the cemetery and the continued restoration of the municipal roads.

"The significant energy-saving work carried out in municipal buildings and the improvement of public lighting have earned the municipality the silver trophy in the Alpes-Maritimes Climate and Energy Plan," she announced. "Our municipality has also been awarded the Village of the Future label. This is a project supported by the government to support rural areas."
