It will host the United Nations Ocean Conference in June, the new convention center in the port of Nice will be called Nicea

Nicea, that is now its name.
This Wednesday, April 30, Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, very symbolically handed over to the State and the UN the keys to the infrastructure built in the port of Nice to host the Ocean Summit from June 9 to 13.
Three buildings, including a semi-temporary convention center, which will be converted into a plenary hall for the United Nations General Assembly, similar to the one in New York.
A public consultationAt the end of this international meeting, the Metropolis will take possession of these new facilities to make them a "modular" hall, specifies Christian Estrosi, "capable of hosting shows, concerts and conferences" . Because these infrastructures are "your heritage" , they "belong to the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis" , hammered the mayor in front of a crowd of Niçoises and Niçois invited to discover the places in preview. It is they, also, who chose through a consultation, organized by the municipality, the name of this new facility.
The public had the choice between "Le Quai", "Lympia", "Nicea" and "Océanice". The last two options were "difficult to decide between" . Both were ultimately chosen. The three buildings together will be called "Océanice" and the main hall, the size of two football pitches and capable of holding 2,400 people, will be called "Nicea".
