Finistère: Discover Breton cultural heritage while having fun with the Archikurieux games

Since 2024, the Les Archikurieux association has been offering year-round opportunities to discover the local heritage of Finistère through fun activities aimed at everyone, from the age of 4. Between treasure hunts and "Kuriosités" hunts, holidaymakers are fully committed.
By TP"We all remember the visits our parents forced us to do during our childhood. We were dragged from monument to monument, grumbling all the while. That's why we decided to create this association. When the activity is fun, we get more involved and we discover while having fun," explains Yann Jouët, one of the founders and leaders of the association Les Archikurieux , with Laëtitia Anger and Catherine Le Lay. In several towns in Finistère, from Brest to Pont-Aven, they offer two formats for exploring heritage.
At the Orangerie de Lanniron in Quimper (Finistère), for example, "we offer a treasure hunt accessible from the age of 8," explains Yann Jouët. "We provide a basic scenario, with a key character, Uncle Archibald. Through puzzles, we discover the interest and history of the city, or a particular site. There are around ten locations to find. Participants leave with sealed envelopes, containing puzzles specific to each location and clues to find the next location. At the last location, they must open a cryptex that reveals the city's secret. It's simple, fun, and takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete. We can accommodate between 6 and 10 teams of 2 to 7 people, depending on the city."
The second activity is the "Kuriosités" hunt. This is a photo rally with four levels of difficulty depending on age. The first is accessible from 4 years old. Yann Jouët explains the concept: "We provide photos and geographical points corresponding to the sites photographed. The goal is to discover each place with a map. Once you've figured out what the photo corresponds to, you have to answer a question. The answers reveal a sentence that launches a photographic challenge to be completed at the end of the hunt." A hunt that is above all intended to be accessible, insists the host: "Rest assured, we cover less than 2 km on foot."
These activities take place every day on different routes and are offered until the end of the summer holidays, in the mornings and afternoons. "We also operate during all school holidays, but only in the afternoons, for individuals as well as for businesses and schools," emphasizes Yann Jouët.
Practical: Treasure hunts and "Kuriosités" hunts organized by the Les Archikurieux association will be held almost every day from August 2025, in one to four cities each day. Find the full program and prices for these events on their website. Reservations required. The association also offers treasure hunts without a leader, the booklets for which can be purchased at the tourist offices of the cities concerned.
