The Sagrada Familia, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) but still unfinished, is one of the main attractions of the tourist city of Barcelona. Spain suffered a wave of dramatic forest fires in August that killed four people and ravaged more than 350,000 hectares. These fires constitute "one of the biggest environmental disasters" the country has experienced in recent years, according to the left-wing government, which has linked their scale to climate change.
Futuro Vegetal has carried out dozens of similar protests in recent years, denounced as vandalism by many museums, including one in 2022 in which its activists glued their hands to the frames of paintings by Spanish master Francisco de Goya at the Prado Museum in Madrid.
