Colmar. Saint-Joseph: 125 years ago, a church and a neighborhood were born

At nearly 70 meters high (67.7 to be precise), the tower of Saint-Joseph Church is a real eye-catcher. The venerable building, built around a square with majestic buildings, seems to have watched over the western part of Colmar for centuries.
Centuries? No way! The deceptive neo-Gothic structure dates from 1900, built to accommodate the inevitable expansion of the city's booming industry. Before, on the other side of the railway, there were only fields, then vast factories surrounded by the few workers' towns that quickly sprang up.
Faced with the population explosion, the creation of a new parish has become necessary...
