Woman saved from drowning while trying to retrieve her dog in the Dordogne
This Wednesday, May 14, a 21-year-old girl jumped into the Dordogne, in Beynac, to try to rescue her dog which had fallen into the river.
It's a story with a happy ending. Firefighters from Sarlat and Bergerac responded to the rescue of a 21-year-old woman on Wednesday, May 14, mid-afternoon, around 4 p.m. She jumped into the Dordogne River from the Quai des Gabarres in Beynac to try to catch her dog, which had just fallen into the river. The young woman was dragged 50 meters before managing to grab onto a rock. Fortunately, the first firefighter to arrive on the scene quickly jumped into the water to swim alongside the victim. The boat then managed to recover the victim, her dog, and the rescuer.
