Five people died in a violent head-on collision between two cars late Monday afternoon in southern Saône-et-Loire, according to the department's president and local media. The accident occurred in La Pougre, between La Clayette and Saint-Symphorien-des-Bois.
According to information from Ici Bourgogne , an SUV and a city car were involved. Four women and a man, inside the vehicles, died. They were reportedly between 70 and 80 years old. "This evening, I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and commend the many firefighters," reacted André Accary, president of the Saône-et-Loire department, on Facebook.
