Five people died in a head-on collision between two cars in Saône-et-Loire

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Monday, November 10. Two cars collided in the town of Curbigny, in the Saône-et-Loire department , BFMTV learned from multiple sources. The "head-on collision," as described by André Accary, president of the department, in a Facebook post, resulted in five deaths.
According to our information, the victims are the occupants of the two vehicles: a 56-year-old man, three women in their seventies, and one woman in her eighties. A large emergency response was mobilized: firefighters, gendarmes from the Chauffailles and Charolles brigades, the Paray-le-Monial motorized brigade, and a SAMU helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
This was in vain, since all the victims were declared dead before they could be transported to the hospital.
"It was with horror that I learned late this afternoon of this tragic accident at the place called La Pouge between La Clayette and Saint-Symphorien-des-Bois. A head-on collision that caused the death of 5 people," wrote André Accary on Facebook, offering his "most sincere condolences to the families of the victims" and praising "the many firefighters who carried out this emotionally difficult operation, the gendarmes and other on-call personnel (...), the local mayors."
"We send our most heartfelt thoughts and sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the accident in Curbigny," wrote the gendarmerie of the department on the same social network.
