Laura Villamil speaks about alleged compensation after the incident at Andrés Carne de Res

It's been a year since the high-profile incident suffered by Laura Daniela Villamil at the famous Andrés Carne de Res restaurant, in which she suffered severe burns over 90% of her body and which put the country on edge regarding her health.

The incident, which occurred in 2024, occurred after a spark of fire fell on her wardrobe during a show booked by the restaurant, in which she was participating. Without giving her time to react, the flames spread rapidly, and she was taken to the emergency room .

After the incident, the young woman had to undergo surgery a total of 17 times , in what seemed like a race against time for doctors in their attempt to save her life.

A year later, the young woman gave details in an interview with the program 'La Red' on 'Caracol Televisión' about an alleged compensation of 3 billion pesos that she had received from the establishment .

According to Villamil, the information is false : " There is a news story in which I supposedly receive money, a sum for compensation, which is not the case. No one contacted us: not Santi (his brother), not my mother, no one ."

And he added: " Then of course, I had an anxiety attack; I was on the street and I was saying, 'What am I going to do? It's unsafe...' I got scared because maybe sometimes they don't measure the things they're going to publish: I had a horrible anxiety attack, I cried a lot, because I said: 'I haven't done anything to them.' "

Laura Villamil also said she felt affected by several comments on social media after this false information became public.

" I felt really bad. The next day I didn't want to get up, I didn't want to go out. Also, I saw a comment that said, 'Oh, if that's why, even I'd burn myself.' I said, 'I really don't wish you even five percent of the pain I felt,' " she confessed on the show.

His lawyer, Camilo Rojas , also spoke about this, stating that " the information disseminated in some media outlets and social networks, in relation to the compensation received from the Andrés Carne de Res Restaurant, does not correspond to the reality of the agreement, which is legally reserved ."

And he also noted that " In light of the above, asserting compensatory amounts puts at risk not only the rehabilitation process but also the safety of Laura Villamil and her family ."

Currently, the young woman continues her physical and emotional recovery process . Although she has already shown signs of improvement and has received support from her family, she is still dealing with the after-effects of the incident at the restaurant.
