Fatty Liver: These Are the 6 Things You Should Do to Eliminate the Condition

A diagnosis of fatty liver disease , especially non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), can be reversed, especially if treated early. And experts agree that the key lies in lifestyle changes. Here are six things you should do to eliminate the condition.

According to the Mayo Clinic in the United States, with the help of medical care, steps can be taken to manage non-alcoholic fatty liver disease . The six recommendations are:

1. Lose weight. "If you are overweight or obese, reduce the number of calories you consume per day and try to increase physical activity to lose weight gradually," the prestigious institution stated. Therefore, consuming fewer calories is the key to losing weight and managing this disease.

2. Choose a healthy diet. Eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. You may be advised to avoid or limit certain foods and drinks, such as white bread, red and processed meats, juices, and sugary drinks.

3. Exercise and stay more active. "Aim for at least 150 minutes of exercise per week. If you're trying to lose weight, increasing your exercise intake can help. If you're not already exercising regularly, talk to your healthcare team first and start slowly," the Mayo Clinic said.

The U.S. Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) officially stated that you may be able to prevent these fatty liver conditions by eating a healthy diet, limiting portion sizes, and maintaining a healthy weight.

Along these lines, it was determined that people should avoid foods and beverages containing large amounts of simple sugars, especially fructose. Fructose is found in sweetened soft drinks, sports drinks, sweetened tea, and juices. (READ: 7 Tips to Get Rid of Rat Infestations Once and for All)
