The status of the Asencio case: he will go to trial for disseminating sexual videos that affected two women, and one has withdrawn the charge.

Court No. 3 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria, yesterday agreed to open a trial against Real Madrid player Raúl Asencio. and three other footballers, accused of having distributed without permission videos with sexual content involving two young women, one of them a minor . Despite the fact that one of the alleged victims, an adult, expressed forgiveness after receiving a letter of apology and financial compensation, the center-back remains involved in the legal proceedings.
The judge has ordered Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García—all former Real Madrid youth players—to post bail of €20,000 each to ensure possible compensation for the plaintiffs in the event they are found guilty, while Asencio is required to post a bail of €15,000 .
The difference is that the first three are not only accused of having distributed the videos, but of being the authors of those recordings, without the permission of the young women affected.
There is no further appeal against the ruling made public yesterday—although it is dated September 2nd. The case will now be referred to a Criminal Court in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to set a date for the public hearing.
The events for which they will be tried occurred on June 15, 2023 , when the four footballers were spending the day at a beach club in the town of Amadores, in southern Gran Canaria.
Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez and Andrés García met two girls, one of whom was 16 years old at the time, with whom they had consensual sexual relations in a private cabin at the club. Raúl Asencio did not enter the cabin and remained on the sidelines of what was happening in the pool at all times.
The complainants claim that, without their permission, the three players, who no longer play for Real Madrid, recorded them having sex and shared the videos in WhatsApp groups , despite the fact that they had expressly asked them to delete them from their phones.
Asencio's involvement in the case came days later, when one of the defendants sent him one of the videos to his cell phone and he showed it to a friend , allegedly knowing that they had been taken against the young women's will.
This is something he himself acknowledged in a WhatsApp message recovered by the Civil Guard from his phone , in which he said: "Hey, bro, I showed it to you because Juan (Rodríguez) gave it to me," as stated in the order that ended the investigation.
In this case, the Prosecutor's Office is requesting sentences of four years and seven months in prison for Ferrán Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García, and two years and six months in prison for Raúl Asencio .
The first three are charged with the crime of distributing child pornography in conjunction with two crimes against privacy, for having recorded and distributed the images, while Asencio is charged with two crimes against privacy, for having shown the images .
The two young women who filed the complaint are also named as private prosecutors in the case. The one who was a minor at the time of the incident is filing charges against the four soccer players , while her partner has withdrawn the charges against Raúl Asencio.
And she did so, as confirmed by her lawyer, after having been compensated by the player in an undisclosed amount and having received a formal letter of apology from the player, in which he expressly admits to "the error" of having shown the images he received to a third party .
