Serbian Nokak Djokovic, who is seeking to extend his record of Grand Slam titles to 25 at Wimbledon, advanced to the round of 16, winning his 100th match at the tournament.

The 38-year-old Serbian tennis player, who has not won a title since winning Olympic gold at the Paris Games on August 4, 2024, defeated his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in the third round, 6-3, 6-0, 6-4, in one hour and 47 minutes.

Djokovic, currently ranked sixth in the world, is also seeking his eighth Wimbledon title, following his victory in 2022 and having lost the last two finals against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

The Serbian becomes the third tennis player, between men and women, to reach the mark of 100 matches won at Wimbledon, after Martina Navratilova (120) and Roger Federer (105).

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner doesn't seem to need much help in the tournament. However, he received it yesterday when his opponent, Pedro Martínez, was dealing with a shoulder problem and often hit his first serves with mediocre speed.

The top- ranked Italian reached the fourth round for his seventh consecutive Grand Slam tournament and was never in trouble during a 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Martinez.

Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova was eliminated by Emma Navarro of the United States 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and 2022 champion Elena Rybakina lost to Clara Tauson 7-6, 6-3. Krejcikova had her blood pressure checked in the final set.

World number seven Mirra Andreeva advanced with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Hailey Baptiste of the United States, and five-time major winner Iga Swiatek overwhelmed Danielle Collins 6-2, 6-3.

Santiago González is the only Mexican who hasn't lost at Wimbledon. The Cordoba native advanced to the third round of the mixed doubles with Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova. The pair defeated Britons Marcus Willis and Alicia Barnett 7-5, 6-1.

Although they don't have much experience as a pair, the players showed chemistry on the court and achieved 91 percent effectiveness with their first serve.

In the men's doubles, Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela lost. The Guadalajara native lost 6-4 with Indian tennis player Sirinam Balaji to Argentine Horacio Zeballos and Spaniard Marcel Granollers.

Reigning four-time world champion, Dutchman Max Verstappen, took pole position for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Great Britain after finishing fastest in yesterday's qualifying session, ahead of the McLarens driven by Australian Oscar Piastri and Briton Lando Norris, who finished second and third respectively.

On the iconic English Silverstone circuit, where the first F1 Grand Prix was held 75 years ago, the Red Bull driver, third in the overall standings, achieved a favorable position to try to defeat Piastri, the championship leader, and Norris, who occupies second place.

Before Sunday's race, Piastri held a 15-point lead over Norris and a 61-point lead over Verstappen, and is forced to hold his own if he wants to secure a fifth consecutive title.

Along with Norris, Britain's George Russell (Mercedes) will be on the second row of the grid in fourth place.

The two Ferraris will be on the third row, with Englishman Lewis Hamilton starting from fifth place and Monegasque Charles Leclerc from sixth.

Hamilton has won this Grand Prix nine times in the past, at his talismanic Silverstone circuit, but a tenth victory seems unlikely today.

Since leaving Mercedes at the end of last season and joining Ferrari, the 40-year-old veteran driver has failed to finish on the podium in any of the main races of any Grand Prix so far.

For his part, Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) was seventh in qualifying, but will start the race tenth due to a three-place penalty for being found guilty of an accident with Verstappen last Sunday in Austria.

In this way, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) will start seventh, the Frenchman Pierre Gasly (Alpine) eighth, the also Iberian Carlos Sainz ninth (Williams) and Antonelli tenth.

Meanwhile, Mexican driver Patricio O'Ward will start today from 15th place in the IndyCar Mid-Ohio 200, after losing several positions in yesterday's qualifying session. He had posted the fourth-fastest time in the second practice session and finished second in the first, held on Friday.

Championship leader Alex Palou of Spain extended his dominance by taking pole for this race, where he will seek his seventh win of the season.
