Omni E28: This robot wants us to help it clean.

Robot floor-mopping manufacturers are moving toward larger stations or bases that can hold larger liquid tanks. This way, we can forget about home cleaning and the necessary maintenance of these devices for longer. However, Eufy has gone further and opted for a fairly versatile unit that has pleasantly surprised us. The main novelty of its latest model, the Omni E28, is that we can disassemble part of its structure, which includes the clean and dirty water tanks, to use it to reach areas inaccessible to the robot itself (upholstery, car, stairs, etc.) or where the dirt is heavier. In short, it's about taking advantage of the full suction power—20,000 pascals in this case—to be able to clean those other areas with it, even if it's done manually.

Thus, we can say that this Omni E28 (999 euros) is a hybrid model between a robot floor cleaner and a handheld vacuum cleaner. It combines artificial intelligence to perform mapping or avoid and recognize objects with its high suction power and this removable module. After several weeks of intensive use, we want to explain below what the experience was like.

This removable device has been dubbed FlexiOne. If you look at the base where the robot recharges its energy and water, it includes a handle that can be pulled. This way, we'll only take with us the part that contains the liquid tanks, which has a hidden arm like that of a classic vacuum cleaner. These tanks have a significant capacity (3 liters for dirt, 2.5 liters for clean water, and 1.8 liters for dirty water), so if they're all full, it can be a bit cumbersome to carry.

In terms of design, it stands out for its more square shape—although rounded at the corners—and its semi-transparent magnetic cover, which can be removed to access the filters and the internal dirt container. It includes an extendable arm called the CornerRover Arm, which activates when it detects corners, allowing access to areas that are normally out of reach.

The HydroJet system is another of the device's great features. Instead of simply dragging a wet mop, this mechanism integrates mop rollers—as opposed to the double rotating mop found on other models—that clean themselves as they remove dirt.

The pressure they exert on the floor (up to 1.5 kilograms) is remarkable, as it determines how effective the cleaning process is. When the job is done and they return to the charging station, their Omni Station base automatically refills the water tank, cleans the mops, and dries them with warm air, ensuring the robot is always ready and odor-free, while also eliminating bacteria from moisture.

Thanks to the AI See system, the Omni E28 identifies and avoids objects in real time. Using RGB cameras and artificial intelligence algorithms, the robot distinguishes over 200 common obstacles, such as cables, toys, or furniture legs.

An interesting detail is the addition of automatic LED lighting, which improves its performance in dimly lit areas, such as under furniture or in hidden corners. This feature is especially useful if you schedule cleaning for nighttime or in closed spaces.

As is usual with cleaning robots, the app we download to our mobile phone gives us access to maps, all the settings, customization options, cleaning programs, and whether we want to combine vacuuming and mopping or just one of them in each room. It's also compatible with voice assistants, providing a completely hands-free experience.

When the robot is turned over, we can see the two brushes—called DuoSpiral—which feature an anti-tangle design that minimizes maintenance and prevents hair buildup. Even in homes with pets, the system has proven remarkably effective at collecting hair without leaving residue or blocking the rollers.

For all the above, and especially for its versatility in combining automation and manual cleaning, the Eufy Omni E28 represents a new stage in the development of these devices. Its combination of power, precision, adaptability, and minimal maintenance makes it one of this year's strongest contenders in the high-end range.

Along with the Omni E28, Eufy has also launched another robot floor mop model, the E25 (€899). Both share most of the aforementioned specifications and technologies—such as the 20,000 pascals of suction that place them in the premium segment—but the FlexiOne manual mopping and vacuuming system is exclusive to the E28, so we recommend the higher-end model.
