The five mistakes Mazón acknowledges
After announcing his resignation, he lists what he claims were the mistakes he made on October 29, 2024 and the following days.
Carlos Mazón is stepping down as president of the Valencian Generalitat, acknowledging that he made mistakes. "It's time to recognize one's own errors," he stated, "those that have placed me at the center of political criticism as the head of the Valencian Generalitat on the worst day in our history and in the days immediately following."
"I know I made mistakes, I acknowledge them, and I will live with them for the rest of my life. But none of them were due to political calculation or bad faith." The politician has listed the mistakes he admits to having made.
- Fake news . "Allowing all kinds of very painful fake news to spread by not providing explanations in time."
- Emergency . "Not requesting a national emergency declaration because, according to the Government itself, it wouldn't bring in more troops or make them arrive any sooner. In the following days we discovered that they wanted to leave us alone for political strategy, and my national president had already advised me to do so."
- Naiveté . "My naiveté was evident in believing that by receiving the Government in a friendly manner in the first few days, the aid would be expedited."
- The food. "Above all, sticking to the schedule for that day. It's true that with the midday data (...) it was unimaginable that a few hours later the Poyo would go from being dry to a death trap. But it's also true that at the other end of the province, and unrelated to the Poyo, at midday the storm was centered in Utiel and I should have had the political foresight to cancel my schedule and travel there."
- Image . With the above, "I made another mistake. Allowing the idea of a president oblivious to the emergency to take root in the social imagination."
