Sheinbaum asks Adán Augusto to give his version in the Bermúdez Requena case.

In a significant shift in the political and national security arena, President Claudia Sheinbaum publicly asked Adán Augusto López Hernández, senator and coordinator of Morena in the Senate, to clarify his relationship with Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Secretary of Security of Tabasco, currently a fugitive and accused of alleged ties to the criminal group La Barredora .
During her morning press conference at the National Palace, the president emphasized that her government will not protect anyone involved in crimes, regardless of their political affiliation or career. The request for transparency addressed to the former governor of Tabasco marks a key moment in the presidential promise to combat impunity, even within the ruling party.
Bermúdez Requena was appointed head of Public Security in Tabasco during the Adán Augusto administration. He currently faces an arrest warrant for his alleged collaboration with La Barredora , a criminal cell accused of drug trafficking, extortion, and disappearances in the southeast of the country.
According to Sheinbaum, the investigations are in the hands of the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and the federal government will not intervene or hinder the process.
"We are not going to protect or cover for anyone," the president emphasized to national media.
Sheinbaum was clear: Adán Augusto, as a former state leader, must come forward and offer his version of events.
"He must give his version so that people can appreciate the role he played as governor, particularly on security issues," he declared.
The president clarified that this is not a formal instruction or requirement, but rather an ethical responsibility to the public.
"I don't instruct him anything. He makes his own decision. But it would be great if he gave his version so his experience as governor could be known," he added.
When asked whether this case could affect her administration, Sheinbaum was blunt: "I don't think so."
He recalled that during Adán Augusto's first term as president of Tabasco, homicides decreased significantly. However, he acknowledged that the details of how the situation surrounding Bermúdez Requena evolved will be clarified by the Security Cabinet.
“What came next will be detailed with dates and context,” he said.
In recent days, reports have circulated about the alleged death of the former Tabasco official. The president denied having any official information on the matter.
"It's not confirmed. We would have to ask the Security Cabinet to report if they have any additional information," he replied.
Sheinbaum reiterated her commitment to truth, transparency, and the fight against organized crime without political distinctions.
