Manuel Adorni clarified his decision to assume the role of Chief of Staff and rejected placeholder candidacies.

Manuel Adorni , the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the national government, defended his decision to resign his seat in the Buenos Aires City Legislature. In an interview with Luis Majul, he asserted that his candidacy was not merely symbolic and that his move to the Executive branch was a political and hierarchical duty, aimed at advancing the government's reforms.
“Placeholder candidacies are a fraud against the electorate, and I am not in that situation,” stated Manuel Adorni. He emphasized that his decision is not intended to evade electoral responsibilities and explained the difference: “A placeholder candidacy is when you already know you are not going to take office. I was already working for the Legislature and had a real commitment to that role.”
The new Chief of Staff insisted that his transfer was solely due to the need to comply with the President's call.
“When the President calls upon me, I owe my allegiance to him. I always said I would be wherever he asked me to be,” explained Manuel Adorni. This decision, he added, does not imply abandoning his political responsibilities, but rather assuming a higher-ranking role within the Executive branch.
Adorni emphasized that his priority will be to move forward with the reforms agreed upon by the Government. “My task is to unite, coordinate, and ensure that the policies we need are implemented. I am committed to this stage of my administration and to the objectives we have set for ourselves,” he affirmed.
In the interview, the Chief of Staff questioned the economic management of the province of Buenos Aires. He challenged Governor Axel Kicillof to explain "how one can spend infinite money without having the necessary resources," reflecting his critical stance toward the Buenos Aires administration.
Adorni emphasized his good relationship with Cabinet members and other political leaders, especially with Santiago Caputo, Milei's advisor. His arrival in the Executive branch aims to consolidate coordination between ministries and strengthen collaboration with legislators and provinces.
The newly appointed Chief of Staff stated that his objective is to facilitate the implementation of policies and agreements among the various sectors of Javier Milei 's government. He believes that effective coordination is key to advancing the reform agenda and maintaining political stability.
