Lázaro Báez was taken to Ezeiza Hospital for medical tests.

Lázaro Báez was transferred this Sunday from the Ezeiza prison to the Dr. A. Eurnekian Hospital in Ezeiza for a series of medical tests. The businessman, who is linked to the Kirchner family, is serving a combined 15-year sentence for the "K Money Trail" and "Vialidad" cases.
According to reports on A24 , doctors from the federal prison service recommended that Báez undergo a series of medical tests at the regional hospital, specifically an endoscopy, a stomach x-ray, and laboratory tests due to a complication in his health condition.
Báez had enjoyed house arrest for a time due to his weakened health, but the benefit was revoked after the convictions in the Ruta del dinero K and Vialidad cases were confirmed.
On October 16, Báez filed a habeas corpus petition with the Federal Court of Río Gallegos, arguing that his life “is in danger” due to the lack of medical attention and the deterioration of the detention conditions in Unit 15 of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
This is yet another attempt to avoid serving his unified 15-year prison sentence. Judge Néstor Costabel, of the Comodoro Py Federal Oral Court, has already rejected several similar requests from Báez. Furthermore, he faces other convictions and ongoing trials, but these are not yet final.
The presentation was made by his lawyer, Yanina Nicoletti, who invoked articles 43 of the National Constitution and 3 section 2 of Law 23.098 of Habeas Corpus, considering that there is an “illegitimate aggravation of the conditions of detention” of the 69-year-old businessman.
Nicoletti requested that Báez be immediately discharged from the hospital and admitted to a specialized health center , and that the house arrest that the businessman had until June 2025 be reinstated.
Báez had obtained the benefit of house arrest in March 2020, when Federal Court No. 7 considered that he did not have firm convictions as he does now.
However, in June 2025, the Federal Oral Court No. 4 ordered the transfer of Báez from his home in El Calafate to Unit 15 in Río Gallegos.
In the habeas corpus petition, Nicoletti described how Báez is being held in a section known as the "mailbox" or "lion's den," a small space lacking even the most basic living conditions. According to the defense, the area has no bathroom, adequate ventilation, hygiene, or proper food . Furthermore, Báez remains isolated more than 90% of the time, without contact with other inmates or access to recreational or social activities.
