This is the weather forecast for this week in Colombia: Will it stop raining?

According to the latest statement from the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), a general decrease in rainfall is expected in Colombia for Wednesday, June 25. However, the institute mentions that rain will continue, although more scattered and of lower intensity, in the Pacific, the northern Andean region , the western Amazon, the northern Orinoquia region, and the southern Caribbean.
Rainy conditions and thunderstorms will continue in the western Caribbean Sea and the Pacific basin. The most significant rainfall is expected in the San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina archipelagos , as well as in the departments of Chocó, Caldas, Antioquia, Norte de Santander, and Caquetá.

For today, rain is forecast in the southeastern Orinoquia region, the southern Amazon, the central and northern Pacific region, the northern and western Andean region, and the southern Caribbean region.
Similarly, significant accumulations are expected in maritime areas of the western Caribbean Sea and in the Colombian Pacific basin.
The heaviest rains could occur in the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina , and in the departments of Putumayo, the western Amazon, and in some areas of Chocó, Antioquia and Vichada.

By the end of the week, a significant increase in the intensity and extent of rainfall is expected , especially in the western Orinoquia and Amazon regions, the central and northern Pacific region, the southern Caribbean region, and the northwestern Andean region.
The heaviest rainfall will continue in the maritime areas of the western Caribbean Sea and the Pacific basin.
The most significant rainfall will be concentrated in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina , Chocó, Antioquia, Córdoba, Sucre, Bolívar, Santander, Arauca, Casanare, Meta, Vichada, Caquetá and Putumayo.

The institute offered some recommendations to Colombians regarding climate change. Below, we share some of them:
- Be aware of the condition of the roads, especially in departments with a red alert for landslides.
- Constantly monitor the weather on rainy days and seek shelter in safe areas.
- It is important to avoid transit in areas with steep slopes.
- Do not expose yourself to open areas, under trees and tall metal structures, as you could be subject to electric shocks.
- Avoid sports activities in open areas during a storm.
- Secure and check the condition of roofs and elevated structures that could collapse due to strong winds.
