Six Venezuelans arrested with weapons and tactical equipment in Buenavista, Michoacán

MORELIA, Mich. (apro).- Six Venezuelan nationals were arrested in possession of weapons, magazines, cartridges, and tactical equipment in the municipality of Buenavista, located in the Tierra Caliente region of this state.
According to a statement from the Michoacán Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the arrest was the result of a joint operation between members of the Civil Guard and the Ministry of National Defense.
The state agency reported that the uniformed officers were conducting operational work against crime in the town of Razo del Órgano when they surprised the armed civilians and seized them, along with two .308 and 7.62x39 caliber rifles, 235 rounds of ammunition, 10 magazines, and tactical equipment.
Both the detainees and the seized material were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
On May 7, eight Venezuelans and one Honduran were also arrested in the neighboring municipality of Apatzingán with several rifles, tire-puncturing weapons, 260 live rounds and magazines, as well as containers for explosive devices.
Recently, the state government of Michoacán acknowledged that criminal groups operating in the state have resorted to recruiting South American citizens, many of them migrants who are forced or tricked with the promise of help crossing into the United States, and others who voluntarily join the ranks of organized crime.
