Power, drugs, religion, and how to write a back cover

A colossal replica of Noah's Ark has been erected in northern Kentucky. What is the intention of the Answers in Genesis initiative? To prove that the biblical story was literally true. Thus, creationists are right against modern scientists who maintain that the Earth developed over billions of years in "geologic time." Given Trump's recent attacks on science, this project may be a sure success. Simple explanations are better, some seem to think.

Writer and journalist Osvaldo Aguirre knows Rosario and the drug phenomenon in that city like few others. Rosario Narco (Refucilo) is the author's extraordinary work that distinguishes background and figure. In the background, that great city spread out on its margins, making it seem disproportionate. In the foreground, the figures who play all the roles, the lives, the risks, and the deaths. The victims and the perpetrators.

The violent and violated geography poses a question that years will tell if it has an answer: When will this fire be extinguished?

“When you've become so involved with a book, it's easy to forget that a potential reader hasn't read it, that they know nothing about it. You can't sell them the experience of the book, you have to sell them the anticipation of reading it, the idea it represents,” wrote British writer and copywriter Louise Willder (Gravesend, 1972) in her book. For over twenty-five years, she has written back-cover copy for more than five thousand books. It's a true talent because she does it so well. Now she shares it in a small and seductive book published by Gris Tormenta: One Hundred Words to a Stranger.

The New York Times was sued by a tribe in the Brazilian Amazon, alleging that a report on the tribe's internet debut led to its members being portrayed as tech-addled and addicted to pornography. The lawsuit says the group now has service from Elon Musk's Starlink and that the newspaper "portrayed the Marubo as a community incapable of handling basic internet exposure, highlighting allegations that pornography had completely absorbed the attention of their youth."
The Righteous Gemstones
Want to know what life is like for a family of televangelists in the US? Then you have to watch The Righteous Gemstones , a dive into the multi-million dollar world of evangelical churches in the US. It was created by Danny McBride and premiered in August 2019 on HBO. It's four seasons of chaos, prayers, shows, mountains of money, faith? And a plot that, at times, ponders what the Lord Jesus Christ wants. The protagonist is a luxury: John Goodman, as Eli Gemstone . Here, fiction pokes fun at religion and its pseudo-mystical worlds.
