In his speech, Ambassador Hayakawa Osamu emphasized the importance of this commemoration, highlighting that he arrived in the country last October and traveled to Dajabón in February.

"I am impressed by the organization of this event, which reflects the effort and dedication of Japanese families who have contributed enormously to the agricultural development of the region," said the diplomat. He also highlighted the achievements of Japanese descendants , who have been key in the production of crops such as lettuce, rice, and minor fruits, among other agricultural products.

The ambassador also expressed his hope that next year will mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Japanese colony in the Dominican Republic, which has served as an example of integration and collaboration .

Businessman Takeshi Mukai , known for his leadership in rice production in the region, spoke about the history of the Japanese colony .

He recalled that, although many Japanese immigrants chose to settle in Brazil or Peru, they decided to stay in the Dominican Republic because of the country's hospitality and the opportunities it offers, such as the 300 tareas of land for farming.

Mukai emphasized that the profits from his companies have been reinvested in the community, supporting those most in need. "Our community has thrived thanks to the hospitality of the Dominican people , and today we are here to celebrate what we have achieved together," Mukai commented.

The event was also attended by important figures, such as the resident representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA ) in the Dominican Republic, Kota Sakaguchi.

The official highlighted the cooperative efforts between Japan and the Dominican Republic in areas such as improving competitiveness, the environment, and social development. "This festival not only celebrates Japanese culture, but also the positive impact this community has on the development of the Dajabón region," Sakaguchi stated.
