Huge sinkhole on Calzada Zaragoza causes traffic chaos (Video)

MEXICO CITY (apro).- Traffic was halted on the morning of Thursday, August 14, in the center lanes of Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, heading toward Mexico City International Airport (AICM), due to the appearance of a sinkhole.
In a statement, the Secretariat for Integrated Water Management (SEGIAGUA) reported that the cavity is 4 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 4.5 meters deep above the drainage pipe.

He also stated that his officers responded to the emergency and, through technical work, identified approximately 14 linear meters that require specialized intervention.
The agency noted that this is the second sinkhole to form on the same avenue in less than two days. On the morning of August 13, a 1.5 by 3.5 meter sinkhole was reported to have appeared on the expressway lanes of Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, near the corner of Avenida Río Churubusco.

SEGIAGUA assured that specialized teams carried out the technical evacuation to determine the procedure for addressing the sinkholes, implementing safety protocols with the goal of minimizing impacts to the public.
Meanwhile, residents traveling in the area were advised to follow the instructions of personnel from the Undersecretariat of Traffic Control of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC).
