12 deaths due to hot season in Sonora

In Sonora, the extreme temperatures of the current hot season have claimed the lives of 12 people.
An intense heat wave is affecting several regions of the state, causing temperatures of 46°C in the shade in Hermosillo, the capital city.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health's Weekly Report on Health Damage from Extreme Natural Temperatures through Epidemiological Week 29, published on July 24, 1,132 cases of heat stroke and 44 deaths have been recorded in Mexico.
The deaths have been recorded in the states of Sonora (12), Veracruz (8), Chiapas (4), Tamaulipas (4), Baja California (3), Tabasco (3), Nayarit (2), Nuevo León (2), Quintana Roo (2), Chihuahua (1), Michoacán (1), Morelos (1), San Luis Potosí (1); which corresponds to a fatality rate of 3.88 percent.

It should be noted that the number of deaths in the state of Baja California has been corrected: four deaths were reported during epidemiological week 28, but after the correction, the figure has been adjusted to three deaths corresponding to week 29.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) of the National Water Commission (Conagua), a new heat wave is expected to begin today, affecting various areas of Baja California, Baja California Sur, and Sonora.
To date, 28 states in the country have reported cases, with the states of Sonora and Tabasco standing out, representing 24.4% of the total reported cases.
Heat stroke is the most frequently reported condition, accounting for 54.5% (n=617) of all cases.
Extreme temperatures continue in SonoraThe State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC) warned of extreme temperatures.
Based on an assessment and analysis of general meteorological information and information from the National Meteorological Service and various official sources in the United States, the State Civil Protection Coordination issued the forecast for the weekend.
He predicted that a dry air mass will predominate over much of the state of Sonora, which will lead to a decrease in the generation of storms associated with the Mexican monsoon.

Consequently, an increase in temperatures is forecast with stable conditions, resulting in a hot to very hot environment with maximum temperatures between 40 and 45°C in the valleys and in the northwest of Sonora.

Hermosillo City Council offers support to vulnerable peopleWith temperatures reaching a record high of 46 degrees Celsius, Hermosillo City Hall staff are coordinating efforts to patrol streets and plazas to protect the health of vulnerable people.
Fernando Morales Flores, head of the Municipal Civil Protection Coordination (CMPC), reported that during these tours, they visited busy points in the city, where they provided bottles of water and IV drips to prevent heat exhaustion.
These actions were carried out with the participation of CMPC personnel and members of the Municipal Preventive Police and Traffic Headquarters.
The Municipal Government reiterated its call to citizens to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take special care of children, the elderly, and pets.
