Interpol issued a red notice against Carlos Ramón González, former director of Dapre.

The International Police (Interpol) has notified the Attorney General's Office that a red notice has been issued against Carlos Ramón González, former director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency (Dapre) and a fugitive from justice for the corruption scandal at the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD).

The arrest warrant, however, will not be executed due to the residency granted to him by the Nicaraguan government in that country. González has been one of the most important officials of President Gustavo Petro's administration linked to the embezzlement of the entity, in which contracts were distributed to private interests other than those originally established. Olmedo López and Sneyder Pinilla, former officials of the Unit who are currently behind bars, have already pleaded guilty to these schemes.

While he headed Dapre, González allegedly ordered the allocation of contracts and handouts to Iván Name and Andrés Calle, who were presidents of the Senate and the House of Representatives, respectively. The intention was to get them to vote in favor of the government's social reforms in exchange for 4 billion pesos.

After several investigations and interrogations, prosecutor María Cristina Patiño charged González on May 21st before the Superior Court of Bogotá with three crimes, which the defendant refused. Shortly after, she requested that he be sent to prison, a request that Magistrate Leonel Rogeles accepted and ordered his transfer. Since then, Interpol has been requested to locate him. However, the order was not executed because González, who has been out of the country since 2024, received a residency permit in Nicaragua, which caused a stir locally, as it was processed in December with the help of the Colombian Embassy in Managua.
