81 compatriots are detained in Florida.

As of August 11, there were at least 81 Mexicans detained in Alligator Alcatraz, a migrant detention center in Florida, United States , known for its human rights violations.
In her regular morning press conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that the Mexican Consulate in the U.S. has maintained contact with the detained Mexicans.
As of August 11, the Mexican Consulate in Miami has interviewed 81 detained Mexicans: 31 Mexicans as of August 5; 39 on July 29; and 11 on July 23.
"They're all in communication with the Mexican Consulate in Miami. Our colleague, the former governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón, is there constantly visiting this place to see what the Mexicans who are incarcerated need," he said.
Sheinbaum emphasized that her government has sought to negotiate with its U.S. counterpart to facilitate deportation, although not all detained Mexicans are willing to do so.
"At the diplomatic level, we are constantly working to ensure that they remain there for as few days as possible, and if they so decide, because there are people who want to pursue a trial in the United States, they don't want immediate deportation. But for those who want to do so immediately, we provide them with full support, in addition, of course, to the legal assistance that must be provided by the Consulates," he commented.
Violations of rights
Asked whether they had detected human rights violations at this detention center, the president denied having any reports.
"So far, there are no reports. We are in constant communication.
"Obviously, we don't agree with this type of detention center. They're state-run, not federal, they belong to the state of Florida. From there, they sometimes have to be transferred to a federal detention center, and then, if it's the decision of the United States government, if there's no trial involved, they're repatriated, deported to Mexico. And we're in constant communication," he said.
U.S. media outlets and civil society organizations have reported on abuses committed against migrants, including mistreatment, overcrowding, and unsanitary conditions for detainees.
