It snowed in southern Córdoba and extreme cold is expected in much of the province.

Following the entry of a polar air mass into the country , which produced a marked drop in temperature this weekend, different parts of the province of Córdoba woke up this Sunday to snow and copious amounts of sleet.
One of the places that experienced this phenomenon was Berrotarán, a town located 80 kilometers north of Río Cuarto.
From there, several residents announced that it had begun snowing that night, and in photos they sent to La Voz , you can see the iconic postcards left behind in the town.

Meanwhile, several towns in the south, and even some parts of the capital, experienced significant sleet.
In this context, the Police warned this Sunday morning that this phenomenon, and rain, are still being recorded on several roads in the province , including the Altas Cumbres road, Route 5, and the Córdoba-Río Cuarto highway.
For this reason, they asked the public to drive with caution and obey traffic signs.
In this context, the SMN issued a yellow alert for extreme cold for the north, west, and south of the province.

According to the agency, this alert means that temperatures are expected that could have a "mild to moderate effect on health."
"Extreme temperatures can be dangerous, especially for at-risk groups, such as children, people over 65, and those with chronic illnesses," warned the SMN.
