Starting at 7:30 a.m., the local police conduct the first sweep to clear the running of the bulls. Thousands of people are pushed toward the entrance to the bullring. This way, they achieve their goal of entering the bullring, not running in front of the bulls.

The stands are singing "Don't leave Navarre," a true anthem here. Rosario Pérez reports.
The Fuente Ymbro ranch, owned by Ricardo Gallardo, a passionate bullfighter, was established in 1996 with cows and bulls from Jandilla. It is green, bears a spearhead mark on both ears, and grazes in San José del Valle (Cádiz). The bulls that run the 800 meters today are branded with an omega mark, a G inside, and a cross at the top.

In the bull runs held on the patron saint's day, there have historically been no gorings. The San Fermín bullfighter's cape has always been in the spotlight, even in serious situations such as the pile-ups that occurred on this day at the entrance to the bullring. In 1953, the most spectacular bullfight was held by bulls from Salvador Guardiola. Doctors had to treat hundreds of people with fractures, bruises, and symptoms of asphyxiation.

The streets are full of life, as are the balconies. Everyone is now dressed in white with their traditional red scarves to watch the Fuente Ymbro, the breed that ran the fastest time last year: 2:18. Let's see what happens today!
This morning it drizzled and the weather is now cool, not exceeding 20 degrees.

Today is San Fermín, a big day in Pamplona, a holiday, which means no one will want to miss the first running of the bulls.
The running of the bulls originated and has its raison d'être in the afternoon bullfight. Without the bullfight in the bullring, there would be no running of the bulls. It is simply the transfer of the bulls to be fought from the corrals to the bullring. This was the practice in Pamplona since time immemorial until 1876, when the City Council officially declared the running of the bulls. In 1922, with the inauguration of the new bullring, the bulls covered the 849-meter route we know today.

Good morning! The first running of the bulls of the San Fermin festival begins today with bulls from Fuente Ymbro, a ranch that has been a regular in Pamplona for twenty years and has produced fast and clean runs. The Fuente Ymbro bulls, from Jandilla, will be fought in the afternoon by Miguel Ángel Perera, Alejandro Talavante, and Daniel Luque.
