Antonio Attolini and Gaby Salinas are towed away; a congressman holds Ganem responsible for what happens to them.

Antonio Attolini, a local Morena deputy, accused the City Council Secretary, José Elías Ganem Guerrero, and the Mayor of Torreón, Román Alberto Cepeda, of "using the entire state apparatus against him" in a video. This happened after he was allegedly "kidnapped" by Traffic and Highway Patrol agents, who accused him of allegedly driving while intoxicated.

At around 1:00 a.m., the legislator reported that he was being escorted by a tow truck after officers from the Department of Traffic and Road Safety stopped him, "according to them, for having moved into the right lane without using my turn signals," and asked him to take a breathalyzer test.

"An hour of conversation with them led to them saying I had to take a breathalyzer test, that I had to get out of the car. At no point did I say I was Representative Attolini. I handed over my documents and showed my license, as you can see. Furthermore, I am completely sane."

"I was at a bar with my girlfriend, my future wife, Gabriela, and we got a warning that we were being followed. At that moment, I got up, grabbed my things, and went home. Curiously, five blocks before I got home, a police officer from the Traffic and Highway Police stopped me."

Around 2:00 a.m., Attolini posted a video explaining that he was already at home “after a long night where Mayor Román Alberto Cepeda and his City Secretary, Pepe Ganem, because I have no doubt that this was orchestrated in their offices and, with their authority, they harassed, bullied, and also intimidated me for the actions I have taken.”

Report of authorities

For their part, municipal authorities reported that the incident occurred on Nogalera Boulevard, before reaching Centenario Boulevard, when Traffic and Highway Administration officers detected a vehicle violating urban mobility regulations, for which they stopped it in order to assess the corresponding infraction.

It was reported that, when interviewing the driver of the vehicle, the officer detected alcohol on his breath, and informed him that he would be given a breathalyzer test. However, the driver admitted to having attended a social gathering and refused to take the test.

Therefore, the report indicated, he was notified that the vehicle would be taken off the road to avoid endangering the driver or third parties. Therefore, the vehicle was towed to the impound lot, and the driver was issued an administrative violation.
