A difference of up to 860 euros: You pay a lot of money for this view on vacation.

Those who want to enjoy mountain views on vacation often have to dig deep into their pockets. A new analysis reveals where panoramic views are particularly expensive.
In a recent analysis, the platform “Traumhausverlosung” examined the prices of more than 51,575 holiday accommodations in over 60 popular regions worldwide.
The result: On average, vacationers have to pay 12 percent more if they want accommodation with a mountain view. An expensive proposition: On average, this results in a surcharge of 171 euros on top of the usual price.
Initially, the analysts recorded the highest price markups worldwide. According to the press release, in Zhangjiajie National Park in China, known for its extraordinary rock formations, travelers must expect a price increase of 147.2 percent for mountain views, which corresponds to a surcharge of 859.58 euros.
Accommodation with mountain views in Monistrol de Montserrat, Spain, is the second most expensive option, with an additional cost of 40.3 percent, or approximately €587.18. Significant price increases of 37.4 percent, equivalent to €115.43, are also found in the Annapurna massif around Pokhara in Nepal.
In comparison, Germany has seen a moderate increase in costs. The highest surcharge for mountain views is recorded in Saxon Switzerland, where travelers pay an average of 12.2 percent, or €108.74, more.
In the Allgäu and the Black Forest, panoramic views are also slightly more expensive, with a surcharge of 8.9 percent and 8.7 percent respectively. In the Harz Mountains and the Bavarian Forest, the surcharges are 7 percent and 6.2 percent. Vacationers get the best deal in the Bavarian Alps , where the surcharge is a mere 0.6 percent at €6.29.

The analysis involved surveying price differences for accommodations with and without mountain views for two adults, based on data from Booking.com. The period under consideration covers the week of April 19-26, 2025, with data collected in various popular mountain regions worldwide, according to the press release.
