Thiaw moves to Newcastle and brings Schalke 04 million

Newcastle. Defender Malick Thiaw is moving from Italian Premier League side AC Milan to Newcastle United – bringing a huge windfall to his former club Schalke 04. Last season's fifth-place finish in the Premier League has now made the transfer, which had been brewing for days, public. The Magpies also announced that the three-time international has received "a long-term contract."
According to media reports, the transfer fee is said to be around €36 million, with a potential €4 million bonus. Schalke is also benefiting from this: When Thiaw moved to Milan in 2022, the current second-division club contractually agreed to a resale clause reportedly worth ten percent of the surplus. According to consistent media reports, this would mean approximately €3 to €3.5 million would flow into the Royal Blues' coffers.
"I'm very excited to be joining this great club. I can't wait to start training and get to know my new teammates and the entire team," Thiaw is quoted as saying in the press release.
