Successor to Omlin - Kleindienst new Gladbach captain

German national soccer player Tim Kleindienst will be the new captain of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Rocco Reitz will be his deputy.
The currently injured striker replaces goalkeeper Jonas Omlin, who also lost the battle for the spot between the sticks. Coach Gerardo Seoane has chosen Moritz Nicolas as Borussia's number one.
"The impressions of the past few weeks and discussions with the previous captains have prompted us to redesign the leadership structure. We wanted to create new stimuli without turning everything upside down, because the players who are now on the team council have already led the way," said Seoane.
Rocco Reitz will lead Borussia in the opening matchKleindienst's (29) deputy will be Rocco Reitz (23), who will thus also lead Borussia as captain in the first games of the season. Kleindienst is expected to return to the field in November after undergoing knee surgery.
Kleindienst "brings everything he needs to fill this role," Seoane said. "Despite his young age, Rocco also brings a lot to the table. It's a shame that Tim is currently injured. But even though he can't make an impact on the pitch at the moment, he's very close to the team and involved in all processes." Philipp Sander, Kevin Diks, and Nico Elvedi complete the team council.
