Miroslav Klose annoys FCK, Hannover 96 wins derby at Eintracht Braunschweig

Hannover 96 won a heated high-security derby against Eintracht Braunschweig, moving up to fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga. The 3-0 (2-0) victory against their arch-rivals featured two key players: Finnish international striker Benjamin Källman (32nd/36th) scored two goals for Hannover 96.
And Braunschweig's Erencan Yardimci was shown the red card in the 20th minute. The 23-year-old striker had grabbed his opponent Boris Tomiak by the throat with both hands. The significantly stronger visitors, who had a numerical advantage for more than 70 minutes after this choking gesture, confidently exploited it. Daisuke Yokota (61st minute) scored after the break.
Last season, away fans were largely barred from this hate-filled clash for security reasons. This time, the Eintracht Stadium was sold out again with 22,089 spectators.
Police secured the match with a large-scale operation. And apart from a brief interruption caused by the use of pyrotechnics in the Hannover section in the fourth minute, the stadium remained largely quiet. Due to a paramedical intervention in the stands, both fan groups even briefly stopped their support during the second half.
Miroslav Klose and 1. FC Nuremberg secured a late point on his return to the Betzenberg. The Franconian head coach and his team held on to a 1-1 (0-1) draw at 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
In stoppage time, everyone involved had to wait for minutes until referee Sören Starks, following a video review, finally awarded a penalty to the Franconians. Robin Knoche equalized (90+3). Daniel Hanslik had previously scored the opening goal in the 45th minute in front of 48,000 spectators at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.
The Palatinate team, who were without injured top scorer Ivan Prtajin, remains fifth in the table. FCK idol Klose – the 2014 World Cup winner played professionally for Kaiserslautern for four years in the early 2000s – had to watch as his players made two mistakes when conceding the goal. First, Julian Justvan lost the ball in his own half, then Tim Drexler cleared it to Hanslik's feet.
Nuremberg had the better chances in the first half – most notably Justvan, who shot over the bar in the 15th minute from a penalty after a VAR decision. He slipped during his failed attempt and also illegally touched the ball twice. Rafale Lubach also fired over the empty net in first-half stoppage time. In the second half, Lautern managed to maintain their lead against a largely unimaginative Nuremberg side – but still had to accept the equalizer.
Last-placed 1. FC Magdeburg, under interim coach Petrik Sander, secured their first home win of the season. With a fortunate 2-0 (0-0) victory against Preußen Münster, they finally achieved their first home victory at the fifth attempt. Maximilian Breunig (75th minute) scored the opening goal with a penalty in front of 23,002 spectators, ending the Elbe city club's 524-minute goalless league victory. Rayan Ghrieb then added another goal (90th+2).
The 64-year-old Sander, who will also coach FCM alongside Pascal Ibold in Wednesday's DFB Cup match against FV Illertissen (6 p.m., Sky), decided against a substitution after the 0-0 draw in Darmstadt. Preußen coach Alexander Ende was forced to make five changes to the starting lineup due to numerous injuries and a yellow card suspension.
Magdeburg started cautiously, but were celebrating after just seven minutes. However, Baris Atik's stunning shot into the top corner was ruled out for offside after VAR intervention. Münster had significantly more possession but failed to capitalize.
After the break, the game remained intense, with all the statistics in Münster's favor. The agile Atik (58th/61st) had excellent chances to take the lead, but lacked precision. After Alexander Nollenberger was brought down in the penalty area by the onrushing Malik Batmaz, a penalty was awarded. Breunig converted it confidently (75th). Substitute Rayan Ghrieb then doubled the lead in stoppage time.
