Lechleiter already gone? Signs in Ulm point to separation

A sense of crisis is brewing in Ulm. Personnel problems and a coaching debate are dominating the Spatzen's still-young third-division season. According to a media report, Robert Lechleiter has already been released.

According to information from Südwest Presse, SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball has released coach Robert Lechleiter after the 1:3 defeat in Saarbrücken on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old couldn't prevent relegation last season and hasn't had a good start in the current third-division season with the Sparrows, who are also struggling with serious personnel issues. The record after six games: four losses, two wins, 15th place.

The cruciate ligament tear suffered by captain and integral figure Johannes Reichert at the start of the season and Niklas Kölle 's ankle injury hit Ulm's defense hard. Recently, the Sparrows suffered more bad news: New signing Dominik Martinovic also tore his cruciate ligament and will be out for months.

And so SSV Ulm is struggling mightily and is having great difficulty finding its way in the new league with its completely revamped squad.

Ahead of the relegation clash with the equally struggling Regensburg on Sunday (7:30 p.m.), the club now appears to be looking to make some changes at the coaching position. The signs in Ulm point to a split. U-19 coach Moritz Glasbrenner is set to take over the team until a new coach is found. Official confirmation is still pending.
