Goalkeeper Blaswich moves to Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Bundesliga football club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has signed former Leipzig goalkeeper Janis Blaswich.
Janis Blaswich, 34, originally from Willich on the Lower Rhine, signed a contract with Leverkusen valid until June 30, 2027, the club announced on Monday (August 11, 2025). Blaswich joins as a replacement for Lukas Hradecky, who has transferred to AS Monaco.
No loss of quality"With Janis Blaswich, we have found a high-class successor in the goalkeeper position. This allows us to continue working on the goalkeeping team without any loss of quality," explains Bayer 04 Sporting Director Simon Rolfes.
"It's a huge pleasure for me to follow such a charismatic colleague as Lukas, who has become a legend at Bayer 04," said Blaswich. The 1.93-meter-tall goalkeeper was loaned from RB Leipzig to top Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg last season.
