Eintracht Braunschweig and VfB Stuttgart will have a delayed start to the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The new DFB-Pokal season begins on Friday, August 15, 2025. Due to VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern Munich's participation in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, the clubs will not begin their cup campaign until the end of August. Stuttgart will then host Braunschweig on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 .

Last season was not a particularly successful one for second-division club Eintracht Braunschweig . The team was eliminated in the first round of the DFB-Pokal by Eintracht Frankfurt. In the 2. Bundesliga, the team managed to climb from the relegation zone to the play-offs. The team won the play-offs with a 2-0 victory and a 2-2 draw (4-2 on aggregate) against 1. FC Saarbrücken.
