US Federal Reserve cuts key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points

The Federal Reserve (Fed) is lowering its key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to a range of 4 to 4.25 percent. The U.S. central bank announced this Wednesday evening in Washington. The 25 basis point adjustment was considered a foregone conclusion by experts. This is the first interest rate cut in the U.S. this year. The last time the U.S. central bank reduced interest rates was in December 2024.
