The German construction industry received significantly more orders in the first half of the year.

Construction industry collects more orders
The value of orders rose by 9.4 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Adjusted for price increases, orders grew by 7.3 percent in real terms. Both building construction (+5.6 percent) and civil engineering (+8.7 percent) benefited. Sales increased by 4.6 percent in nominal terms and by 2.2 percent in price-adjusted terms for the first half of the year.
The industry experienced a slight setback in June. Compared to May, orders fell by 2.6 percent in real terms. However, the actual order value was still 2.9 percent higher than the same month last year. Sales, adjusted for price changes, were 0.5 percent lower than in May. Civil engineering companies, in particular, received fewer new orders.
