Sven Ottke is seriously injured in a cycling accident.

Former boxing world champion Sven Ottke suffered a serious cycling accident on Mallorca. The 58-year-old was hit by a car on the holiday island, where he has an apartment, and, according to his own account, was "blown away." Bild newspaper first reported on the accident, which reportedly occurred in Puigderrós in the south of the island.
Ottke explained that on Monday, he was cycling from the right side of the road into the left-turn lane. He reported in an interview with the German Press Agency that a female driver apparently overlooked him.
He suffered a double tibia fracture in the accident, which underwent surgery on Tuesday. The Berlin native also sustained a shoulder fracture, which will be treated conservatively. "The left shoulder is broken, so they'll leave it as it is," Ottke said. He is currently trying to arrange for transport back to Germany.
Former coach talks about the accident"Sven Ottke is doing well considering the circumstances. I'll visit him in the hospital on Wednesday," his former coach Ulli Wegner told Bild. "He was simply run over." According to the newspaper, the 83-year-old was active with Ottke at a holiday club in Mallorca last week, training vacationers there.
Ottke had fought 34 fights in his professional career – and won all of them. In 2004, the super middleweight retired as an undefeated double world champion.
