Price-adjusted production in the manufacturing sector in Germany rose by 1.2 percent in May 2025 compared to April, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects.

German production increased in May
The increase in production in the pharmaceutical industry (+10.0 percent) also had a positive impact on the overall result. However, the decline in the construction industry (-3.9 percent) had a negative impact. Industrial production rose by 1.4 percent in May compared to April, seasonally and calendar-adjusted. Production of capital goods rose by 4.1 percent and production of consumer goods by 0.5 percent. Production of intermediate goods, however, fell by 2.1 percent. Compared to May 2024, industrial production also rose by 1.4 percent, calendar-adjusted. In energy-intensive industries, production fell by 1.8 percent in May compared to April, seasonally and calendar-adjusted. In a three-month comparison, production in energy-intensive industries from March to May was 0.7 percent higher than in the previous three months. Compared with the same month last year, energy-intensive production in May 2025 was 4.8 percent lower, calendar-adjusted.
