Pakistan destroys India's air defenses with hypersonic missiles – military confirms attack

Islamabad/New Delhi. The Pakistani military claims to have destroyed an air defense system in India with hypersonic missiles. The attack took place in the city of Adampur in the Indian state of Punjab, according to a statement from the military. These details could not be verified. According to Indian media, the military even explicitly denied the Pakistani account. The claim that an S-400 air defense system in Adampur was destroyed is false, the newspaper "The Indian Express" quoted a military official as saying.
Hypersonic missiles are considered particularly dangerous because their high speed and maneuverability make them difficult to intercept by missile defense systems.
The Pakistani government had previously reported rocket attacks on Indian military bases. Several military targets were destroyed in "Operation Bunjan." The government also announced that Indian attacks on three military bases in the Pakistani province of Punjab had been repelled without any casualties or damage. Explosions were reported in several cities across the country during the night.
A few days ago, India attacked several targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The attacks were seen as a response to a terrorist attack on April 22 in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed – most of them Indian tourists. The Indian government accuses Pakistan of involvement, a claim the leadership in Islamabad denies.
The border region of Kashmir is also a perennial source of conflict between the two sides. The region is divided between Pakistan and India, but both claim ownership of the territory.
