Following a freight train accident near Borken in Hesse, the railway line between Frankfurt and Kassel has been closed.

As confirmed by police and Deutsche Bahn (DB), two freight train carriages derailed on Monday evening. Cleanup efforts are currently underway. Long-distance trains will therefore have to be diverted via Fulda and Hanau until further notice. For local services, a rail replacement bus service has been set up between Treysa and Wabern, DB stated. According to police, the exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known.
