Eurojackpot cracked: Lottery player from Germany wins 58,316,471 euros

113 million euros were up for grabs in the Eurojackpot on Friday evening. But only two players from Saxony-Anhalt and Finland matched the numbers – and can now look forward to a life-changing sum.
Half of the €113 millionEurojackpot has been won in Germany. A lottery player or syndicate who submitted their ticket in Saxony-Anhalt will share the top prize with one or more players from Finland. They are now each €58,316,471 richer. Westlotto announced this the evening after the numbers were drawn in Helsinki.
"This would not only extend your summer vacation for months or years, if desired, but could also make it even more exclusive," it said. However, it is not yet clear who will receive the generous sum. The ticket, submitted in Germany, was played anonymously, i.e., without a lottery customer card, at a lottery outlet, Lotto Sachsen-Anhalt announced. "It's possible that the winner is currently on summer vacation."
The winning numbers were 7, 8, 13, 29, 36 – plus the Euro numbers 4 and 8. The ticket that brought the million-dollar prize in Germany is valid for several draws and several weeks, it was announced. In the best case scenario, the lucky winner could celebrate again. "More winnings could come in the coming weeks. The stake was 65 euros," according to Lotto Saxony-Anhalt.
The player or syndicate has three years to claim. "After 2018 and 2023, this is the third time the Eurojackpot jackpot has been won in Saxony-Anhalt," Lotto Managing Director Stefan Ebert was quoted as saying in a press release. According to Westlotto, this is the highest win in this lottery in the state to date.
The probability of winning the Eurojackpot, with 19 participating countries, is 1 in 140 million. Players first select 5 numbers out of 50 and then the Euro numbers, i.e. 2 out of 12.
The Eurojackpot was last won in Bavaria on June 17. Around 40.7 million euros went to the Free State.
