Datteln Fire Department: Roof fire. Due to the smoke, the first vehicles were able to reach the scene by sight. After an initial investigation by the deputy fire chief, it became apparent that the fire was outside a house. The flames had already spread along the facade of the house into the roof. Since the roof structure in the area of ​​the upper apartment was not in place, and the attic was only accessible via a folding loft ladder, extinguishing efforts from the inside were not possible. The fire was fought from the outside with two C-hoses and one B-hose. Sections of the roof covering had to be removed. The follow-up extinguishing efforts were made considerably more difficult by the plasterboard cladding in the attic. 30 fire engines (SB) from the full-time fire station, fire brigades 2 and 3, as well as six colleagues from the rescue services from Datteln and Castrop-Rauxel and two emergency physicians were on duty. The Horneburg fire brigade, along with firefighters from fire brigades 2 and 3 who were attending a training course at the fire and rescue station, provided basic security for the city throughout the entire operation. A firefighter from the full-time station was injured during the operation. We cannot provide any information on the cause of the fire. The scene has been handed over to the police.
