Commentary: The glimpse

(SZ) Footballer name myth: Some have in the past taken their name as a warning. The old defender Herbert Finken used to introduce himself to his opponents with a short poem: My name is Finken/and you'll be limping in a minute. Female footballer name myth: The female players completed a spectacular European Championship, and their names are, of course, as melodic or at least as meaningful as the men's; you notice this when you leaf through the team sheets. A good example: the German defensive worker named Elisa Senß. Very appropriate, because where she touches, no grass grows. The power and resilience of the German defense is reflected in the names of the female defenders. In the tough duels with France and Spain, Senß wasn't the only one defending: Knaak and Wamser were the same.
