This startup aims to find cancer faster than doctors can detect it.

Weeks of uncertainty, debilitating worry – when cancer is suspected, a difficult time begins for those affected. It can take a long time to get a diagnosis. Researchers from Münster believe this situation is unacceptable. Because it delays treatments, keeps beds occupied, and leaves families in limbo.

The Münster-based deep-tech startup Refined Laser Systems aims to shorten the time spent anxiously awaiting a diagnosis with its system – the founders began their research for this while still studying. Gründerszene spoke with co-founder Maximilian Brinkmann and Steffen Ullmann, a medical technology consultant.

The team draws on their personal experiences, but also on the societal significance of their research, to improve the care of cancer patients, says founder Maximilian Brinkmann. "We have a chance to alleviate the suffering caused by cancer, to spare the patient stress. That is very, very moving and very fulfilling."
