Recurrent urinary tract infections in children: Think of CAKUT!

Pediatrician and infectious disease specialist Dr. Michael Büttcher highlighted the importance of congenital anomalies as risk factors for recurrent or severe urinary tract infections (UTIs) at the congress of the European Society of Urology (ESCMID). A urine culture is generally required for infants under three months of age with suspected UTIs, and an ultrasound is also required for recurrent UTIs and after pyelonephritis.
